Eleven Strings

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:                                                                                                                      2 Corinthians 9:8

I like things to be in order. I like to have everything prepared and complete for when I need it. So when I broke a string on my guitar before Church one night, I had a choice to make. I could put the guitar back in the case and sit down. The guitar was missing a string; it probably won’t sound right; it won’t feel right. It wasn’t complete anymore. Or, I could go ahead and play the guitar and not worry about. So what if it wasn’t complete. When’s the last time anything was perfectly complete.

God hasn’t found many perfect people to work with. In fact, there was only one. But God will use us just the way we are, with all of our imperfections, with all of our problems. All we need to do is trust Him. He will provide what we need. He will be that “twelfth string” when we are broken. Why? Because He love us!

Sometimes things don’t go just the right way,
And you can’t find the words you are to say.
It seems you’re struggling to come in from afar,
Like playing eleven strings on your twelve-string guitar.

You prepared for things to be the best they can be.
You’ve looked all around you for all you might see.
But at the last moment, you don’t know where you are.
It’s like playing eleven strings on your twelve-string guitar.

You think you have heard what sounds like God’s call,
But you’re not sure if you understood any of it at all.
You want to respond but you know you’ve fallen so far.
You’re broken like the eleven strings on your twelve-string guitar.

Then you clearly hear God say, “I have called out for you.
There are things that I have that are just for you to do.
I don’t want you to be concerned with who you think you are.
I know how to play eleven strings on your twelve-string guitar.

“I’ve never called anyone who was perfect in every way.
I even had to give Moses the right words for him to say.
If you’ll walk with Me, I’ll show you who you really are.
I’ll be your twelfth string on your twelve-string guitar.
