From Where Does Your Value Come?

4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? Psalm 8:4

Have you ever doubted your worth? Questioned your worth? Have you wondered from where your worth really comes?

In the world, our worth is measured in many ways. A person’s name can give them a large amount of worth, or take it all away. As far as the world is concerned, you would be viewed as having more value if your last name was “Kennedy” or “Rockefeller.” Where a person went to school can create their worth, but that worth can vary as the football team’s success goes.

But our value doesn’t come from anything this world can give us or provide us. Our value comes in our creation (Genesis 2:7). Our value comes in the commandment (Exodus 20:13). Our value comes in our conception (Jeremiah 1:5). Our value comes in the cross (Isiah 53:5). God created each of us. He loved us so much that he sent his son Jesus Christ to pay the price that we might be redeemed. God knows of the value in Him that we each have. The value we have in relationship to a school is in the flesh and fades. The value we have in our names is in the flesh, and it too fades. But the value we have in God is spiritual, and it never fades.

So how much are you worth? The next time you doubt your worth, you doubt your value, remember in Who your real value is in. In God, we are all priceless.

What is the value that you have placed on your life?

How much does it change when you walk in strife?

What are the things you value to guide your way?

Are they forever changing as often as does a day?

Is there a special value the world places on you?

Is it perhaps based on your name or what you do?

Does it have to do with some place that you went?

Or is it based on how much money you have spent?

No, your true value comes from the One who knew

Who you were going to be even before you were due.

Your true value doesn’t come from the things on earth.

It comes from the One who gives us a second birth.

No one else can ever tell you of your value within,

It’s a value that can’t be diminished by your sin.

For your true value is based on God’s love for you.

It’s not by what you earn with the things that you do.

Your Heavenly Father picks you up out of the mud.

He wipes off the dirt mixed with the battle’s blood.

He washes you with the tears shed to set you free.

Your true value is in who God has called you to be.

Three nails and a cross was the price that was paid.

Your debts wiped out; all the payments have been made.

For you were forgiven from even before your first day,

For your value in God – it can never be taken away.
