Let God Be God!

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Too many times in our lives, we try to do things our way.  Then “life” happens.  Things don’t go our way.  Those we trusted, turn on us.  Sometimes the end seems closer than we are ready for it to be.  Yet, we still try to do things our way.

But there is a different way.  We can stop trying to do it our way, and let God be God in our lives.  He knows what we don’t know.  He knows what we need.  He knows the way we are to go.  But God loves us so much, He won’t force us to do things His way.  God will honor our decision to try it our own way; to not listen to His Word; to reject His love.

So we have a choice.  Do our own way, or trust in God’s way.  Face life depending on ourselves, or let God be God in our lives, through our lives, and with our lives.

When the winds of this life turn bitterly cold,

And you can’t believe in anything you’re told.

When you grab for something to just hold on,

Before what you thought you had is simply gone.

Stop trying to decide the right path; the right way,

And then just let God be God in your life today.

When the words of a loved one cut into you deep,

And you toss and you turn and you can’t sleep.

When you think their betrayal is all you can see,

And you wish they would just go and let you be.

Stop letting your anger always control what you say,

And then just let God be God in your life today.

When the time has finally come to say good-bye,

And you think about things you didn’t say or try.

When the lights turn dim and the words come slow,

And you heart hurts more than the others know.

Stop fighting the battle, and stop running away,

And then just let God be God in your life day.

For it’s not by your might that anything’s done.

There not a challenge you’ve met; not even one,

That God wasn’t standing there right at your side;

That He didn’t wipe away all the tears you cried.

His love and strength you will know if you’ll say,

“Yes, I will.  I’ll let God be God in my life today.”
